Daily Word

Proverbs 6:20-22 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

20 My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.

21 Keep their words always in your heart. Tie them around your neck.

22 When you walk, their counsel will lead you. When you sleep, they will protect you. When you wake up, they will advise you.

Proverbs 6:20-22 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

20 My son, observe the commandment of your father And do not forsake the teaching of your mother;

21 Bind them continually on your heart; Tie them around your neck.

22 When you walk about, they will guide you; When you sleep, they will watch over you; And when you awake, they will talk to you.

Pastor’s Thoughts

In God’s perfect world, the father and the mother would lead and guide their children by God’s Word.

If that were to be what was being told to the children and that was the kind of home the child was in, then it stands to reason that we can apply verses twenty-one and twenty-two to God’s Word. Meaning, that we need to bind God’s Word on our hearts. We need to tie God’s Word around our neck. When we walk about, God’s Word will guide us. When we sleep, God’s Word will watch over us. And when we awake, God’s Word will talk to us.

It stands to reason that God’s Word needs to be the most important thing in our lives. We need to read it, study it, memorize it, obey it, share it, and most importantly treasure it.

As we will see tomorrow night, God’s Word will light the way to true Biblical peace and joy when it is treated correctly.

Have a blessed Thursday everyone. I pray that you will increase the importance of God’s Word (The Bible) in your life each and every day. I am not just saying this to you. This goes for me too.
