April 3, 2022 – Proverbs 6:9-11 – Laziness
Daily Word
Proverbs 6:9-11 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]
9 But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up?
10 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—
11 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.
Proverbs 6:9-11 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]
9 How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?
10 “A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest”—
11 Your poverty will come in like a vagabond And your need like an armed man.
Pastor’s Thoughts
I am going to say this as plainly as I can. God does not enjoy when someone lives a lazy lifestyle.
That is not to say that He loves the person any less. I am just stating that God has no room for laziness in His Kingdom nor in His churches for that matter.
We need to be people who are purposefully exercising our spiritual muscles when it comes to reading His Word, praying, evangelizing, discipling, serving one another, and serving non-christians.
There is an enormous difference between resting and lazy. I don’t think I need to spell it out for you.
So moral of these verses’ is don’t live a lazy life. Instead, live a life that is focused on becoming more like Jesus Christ!
Have a blessed Sunday everyone. I pray that you will never stop striving to become more like Jesus Christ! Hope you will make the time to worship Jesus with a local church family this morning.
