April 2, 2022 – Proverbs 6:6-8 – Be like the Ant
Daily Word
Proverbs 6:6-8 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]
6 Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!
7 Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work,
8 they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.
Proverbs 6:6-8 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]
6 Go to the ant, O sluggard, Observe her ways and be wise,
7 Which, having no chief, Officer or ruler,
8 Prepares her food in the summer And gathers her provision in the harvest.
Pastor’s Thoughts
One of the hardest working people I have ever met was a man who had two halves of arms and two halves of legs. He had prosthetic legs and just used the ends of his arms.
This man was a husband, had five children (3 of whom were foster children), worked a full-time job, and was a deacon at his church.
This man could work circles around me and most other men I know. He never whined or came up with excuses why he couldn’t do something. He just did it.
This is the type of attitude that we need to have as believers in Christ. We need to serve the Lord with a hard working and joyful mentality.
Sadly, most men and women that call themselves Christians today are lazy spiritually. 9 out of 10 professing Christians have never read their Bibles all the way through. Only 11% of those 9 people have done so more than once. Most Christians read their Bibles at best once a week and pray at best once a day. I won’t even tell you about the numbers on the declining church attendance, little to no evangelism, and little to no discipleship. I sadly could go on and on.
We have to be better. We have to do better. We have to be like the ant. We need to work hard in our relationships with Jesus Christ out of our love and appreciation for God our Father. This can’t just be a day or few days mentality to have. This must be an everyday mentality.
Have a blessed Saturday everyone. I pray that you will work hard on growing in your relationship with Jesus Christ. Start by prioritizing how you will get up tomorrow and worship with a local church family!
