Proverbs 4:20-22 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

20 My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.

21 Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart,

22 for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body.

Proverbs 4:20-22 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.

21 Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart.

22 For they are life to those who find them And health to all their body.

Pastor’s Thoughts

Today’s passage is simple. Let’s all prioritize the reading, studying, obeying, and sharing of God’s Word.

We must do this if we really want to hear from God “well done my good and faithful servant.”

If not, then what the heck are we doing here. Why play the game of Christianity if we won’t be all in on His Word?

The Bible makes it crystal clear. We can’t serve two masters. We will love one and hate the other.

We must fight with everything we have to maintain a discipline of feasting on God’s Word every day. Otherwise, we aren’t even trying. We really don’t want to live wise lives that please God if we refuse to prioritize God’s Word.

I know this comes off very strong today, I just do not understand why MOST Christians that I meet barely spend any time at all in God’s Word. Then they want me to help with fill in the blank. The first part to solving your problem is submit yourself to God and His Word.

Most of yours and my problems comes down to an unwillingness to read the Bible enough, study it enough, or most importantly obey it enough. And don’t get me started on the lack of sharing His Word with others.

We all (this includes me) have so much room to grow in how much we prioritize God’s Word.

Rant over. I love you all. I hope this has encouraged those who needed to be encouraged and convicted those who needed to be convicted.

Have a blessed Tuesday everyone. I pray that you will make an unbreakable appointment to spend private time in God’s Word every day! Again, I love you all. God Bless!
