Mar 21, 2022 – Proverbs 4:18-19 – Light and Dark
Daily Word
Proverbs 4:18-19 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]
18 The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, which shines ever brighter until the full light of day.
19 But the way of the wicked is like total darkness. They have no idea what they are stumbling over.
Proverbs 4:18-19 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]
18 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.
19 The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble.
Pastor’s Thoughts
When I have hurt the most as a believer in Christ is when I have stored up unrepented sin in my life. The more sin I stored up and the longer I did so, the more pain I experienced and the more miserable I became.
People who are walking in the way of sinfulness will find themselves doing things that they never dreamed that they would do. They have no idea how they got there. They might even ask “how did life get so dark?”
Those who aren’t Christians do not have what you and I have as believers in Christ. We have the gift of calling out to God and owning what we have done desiring to be restored in our relationship with God.
Non-Christians have no real fix. What they need is Jesus.
The more we make Godly decisions as believers in Christ the fuller we become in Christ. Our light will get brighter and brighter and brighter. The brighter our light, the more opportunities we will have to serve God.
People who are living their lives striving for righteousness have nothing to hide, while the people living wickedly try to hide what they do and end up stumbling over their own darkness.
Have a blessed Monday everyone. I pray that you will avoid the dark places that you know that you struggle with and instead will choose to walk more and more in His light!
