Proverbs 3:21-26 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

21 My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them, 22 for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace.

23 They keep you safe on your way, and your feet will not stumble.

24 You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly.

25 You need not be afraid of sudden disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, 26 for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.

Proverbs 3:21-26 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

21 My son, let them not vanish from your sight; Keep sound wisdom and discretion,

22 So they will be life to your soul And adornment to your neck.

23 Then you will walk in your way securely And your foot will not stumble.

24 When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

25 Do not be afraid of sudden fear Nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes;

26 For the Lord will be your confidence And will keep your foot from being caught.

Pastor’s Thoughts

How do we increase our probabilities of being safe, getting good sleep, and having little to no anxiety?

According to the Scripture above, we must hang on to common sense and discernment or sound wisdom and discretion, depending on which translation you hold to.

If you will make it a priority to live by what God’s Word says is good and what it says is not good, making decisions to please God rather than yourself, then you will experience much more of the things I mentioned above. The most important thing you will possess is living a life for a purpose that is greater than you.

Focusing on God’s Kingdom rather than your own kingdom. That is where real lasting joy comes from.

Have a blessed Monday everyone. I pray that you will live your life according to God’ Word throughout the week and the rest of your life.
