Proverbs 6:16-19 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

16 There are six things the Lord hates—no, seven things he detests:

17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent,

18 a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong,

19 a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family.

Proverbs 6:16-19 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

16 There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:

17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood,

18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil,

19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Pastor’s Thoughts

God hates pride, lying, murder, planned sin, self-indulgence in sin, lying about others, and the purposeful causing of hate amongst others.

These things do not describe Jesus at all. The don’t describe what the Bible says a Christian is to be either.

Sadly, many of these are prevalent in many Christians and churches.

The Bible gives us permission to hate one thing and one thing only. No, it’s not Satan. It’s sin. We are to hate all sin. This includes hating our own sin. We are not to excuse it. We are not to ignore it. We are to hate it. The closer I get to Jesus the more I hate all sin, especially mine.

Make sure that you are not allowing one or more of these things to go on in your life without being repented of. Jesus can help you through these. I have lived a life where I did many of these above sins on a regular basis. I can never thank God enough for my salvation that I have in Jesus. He saved me from so much and I want the whole world to know about it.

Have a blessed Tuesday everyone. I pray that you will ask the Lord to reveal to you if any of these that are going on unrepented of in your life. Then I pray that you will give them to the Lord so that you can experience more of His goodness.
