Proverbs 6:30-35 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

30 Excuses might be found for a thief who steals because he is starving.

31 But if he is caught, he must pay back seven times what he stole, even if he has to sell everything in his house.

32 But the man who commits adultery is an utter fool, for he destroys himself.

33 He will be wounded and disgraced. His shame will never be erased.

34 For the woman’s jealous husband will be furious, and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge.

35 He will accept no compensation, nor be satisfied with a payoff of any size.

Proverbs 6:30-35 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

30 Men do not despise a thief if he steals To satisfy himself when he is hungry;

31 But when he is found, he must repay sevenfold; He must give all the substance of his house.

32 The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; He who would destroy himself does it.

33 Wounds and disgrace he will find, And his reproach will not be blotted out.

34 For jealousy enrages a man, And he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35 He will not accept any ransom, Nor will he be satisfied though you give many gifts.

Pastor’s Thoughts

The simple truth is that some sins carry more weight than others. There is evidence of this all throughout Scripture. Now, do not get me wrong, all sin is cause for being separated from God. That is why Jesus died for all sin. But that does not mean that all sin weighs the same.

In this passage we see that coming back from stealing is much easier than coming back from adultery.

Being unfaithful is the hardest thing to come back from when being married. It is not as easy for the husband or wife to forgive and move forward when adultery occurs as it is for God.

You see, God refers to our idol worship as adultery. Why would He use this term when there were others to use? I will tell you why. Because that is exactly what we do when we continue to worship other things that continue to hurt our relationship with Him.

Think long and hard about even walking down the dark street of sexual sin. When a person continues to play with fire they will eventually get burned. The thing about giving in to sexual sin is that our flesh is never content for it to happen just one time. Often times, our flesh eventually will get bored of the sexual sin we are giving in to and then will crave something worse than what we were already doing.

It never stops. Sexual sin is a fire that does not just burn the person(s) committing the sin. It also burns the others around the person and even people they have never met.

RUN FROM SEXUAL TEMPTAION AND COUNT THE COST ALWAYS!

Have a blessed Tuesday everyone. I pray that you will count the cost when tempted to sin sexually in anyway.
