Proverbs 3:27-28 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

27 Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them.

28 If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.”

Proverbs 3:27-28 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.

28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it,” When you have it with you.

Pastor’s Thoughts

Thinking about doing good is often the enemy of actually doing any good.

Our flesh and the enemy love to let us think about doing good and then distract us or scare us from actually doing the good that is before us.

We don’t feel bad about it because the chemicals in our body are telling us that we actually did good because we at least thought about doing it.

The Bible clearly teaches here that if you have the means then you should do it unless the Holy Spirit just stops you in your tracks and says not this one.

I have had that happen very few times in my life. But more often than not, when someone is in need before me, He stirs me to do something about it. Sometimes that’s praying for someone. Sometimes it’s helping with groceries. Sometimes it’s helping with clothing. Sometimes it’s taking the person before me out to eat. The list can go on and on.

Take advantage of the opportunities that are in front of you to do good and then, look for opportunities to do the greatest good, by sharing with them about Jesus Christ. That is if they will listen. The choice is theirs.

Have a blessed Tuesday everyone. Ask God to give you opportunities to do good today. Then WHEN those opportunities come, do what God has enabled you to do.
