Pastor’s Thoughts
As always with verses like this, I remind you that Proverbs is not a book of promises to claim but it is a book of probabilities.
If you make a practice of honoring God with the best (first) of what He has given you then understand that your life will go much better than if you had kept it for yourself or spent it on things that are sinful.
I find that people who steward (manage) God’s resources generously for His Kingdom are entrusted with more to continue the pattern of generosity.
God is a generous God. Jesus lived a generous life on Earth. We as believers in Jesus Christ are to live generous lives also.
You should fully expect that if you are storing up or wasting what God has given you that you will not receive more and that you will not be full of joy. This goes back to the very simple fact; Jesus is to be the main character of your story. Your life as a Christian is to be about bring God glory, not yourself.
The Bible says that the world will know us (as believers in Christ) by how we love our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ as well as everyone else.
What do you do with what God has given you? Do you ask Him what He wants you to do with it? How He wants you to spend it. You should. The more that I do this in my own finances the more peace and joy that I have.
Have a blessed Thursday everyone. Make time today to be alone with God and ask Him what He has to say about the finances that He has given you to manage. Then do what He says to do.
