Pastor’s Thoughts
I tell my children that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to use our words to build up, not to tear down.
When our hearts are focused on tearing others down then we need to keep our mouths closed and pray.
When our hearts are focused on building others up then we need to ask the Holy Spirit to give us the words to say and let them be received as they are intended.
What comes out of our mouths reveals what is inside of our heart. When we are saying things that we know that God despises then we are sinning. When we continue to do this without any remorse then we are building up that unconfessed sin in our lives which hurts our relationship with God further.
When we are guarding our hearts, we must also guard what does and does not come out of our mouths.
When talking remember to ask yourself…
Is what you are about to say honoring or dishonoring to God?
Is what you are about to say to that person building them up or tearing them down?
And remember, we are not tearing someone down when we are telling someone the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is the most loving thing we could do.
Have a blessed Thursday everyone. I pray that you will do more thinking before speaking, making sure that what comes out of you is something Jesus would say.
