Proverbs 4:6-9 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

6 Don’t turn your back on wisdom, for she will protect you. Love her, and she will guard you.

7 Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.

8 If you prize wisdom, she will make you great. Embrace her, and she will honor you.

9 She will place a lovely wreath on your head; she will present you with a beautiful crown.”

Proverbs 4:6-9 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

6 “Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you.

7 “The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding.

8 “Prize her, and she will exalt you; She will honor you if you embrace her.

9 “She will place on your head a garland of grace; She will present you with a crown of beauty.”

Pastor’s Thoughts

To have wisdom we must look for it. We can’t find it unless we ask God for it. Once we have obtained it, we must fight to keep it. It is easier to keep it by trusting it and obeying it rather than ignore it.

King Solomon at one point was the wisest person to ever live. The problem was he did not hold on to it. He ignored it and allowed his feelings and Satan’s lies that called themselves truths to interfere to the point where he made many ungodly and unwise decisions.

What we go after in life is what we get. It’s not enough to want it, we must be willing to give up and do what we have to in order to get it and hold on to it. This is not a one-time decision. It is a daily decision.

Satan does not want you to live your life by God’s wisdom. He wants to have you live your life based off how you feel, the lies he has told, and the direction the world wants you to go. Those three things will never lead you towards wisdom.

It is not hard to see someone in life who lives wisely. The wise Godly person stands out amongst all the fools. And the fool blends in with all the other fools.

How do you want to be seen?

Have a blessed Wednesday everyone. Make it a point for the rest of the day to consider what God’s Word says and pray over every decision that comes your way today. Then trust His Word and do what it says.
