Mar 15, 2022 – Proverbs 4:3-5 – Getting Wisdom and Understanding
Daily Word
Proverbs 4:3-5 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]
3 For I, too, was once my father’s son, tenderly loved as my mother’s only child.
4 My father taught me, “Take my words to heart. Follow my commands, and you will live.
5 Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them.
Proverbs 4:3-5 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]
3 When I was a son to my father, Tender and the only son in the sight of my mother,
4 Then he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words; Keep my commandments and live;
5 Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Pastor’s Thoughts
The following is the promise that we pray to God at the end of every worship service.
I will learn more of what God’s Word says.
I will pray and study to understand it better.
I will obey what it says.
And I will share what God’s Word says with believers and non-believers.
All for the glory of God. AMEN!
This is also the prayer that I pray nearly every time that I open up God’s Word. And I don’t just speak these words. I mean them. I do not want to make the mistake of wasting my time in God’s Word not doing anything with it.
If you want wisdom and understanding, then I would advise you to live the prayer above out every day throughout the day.
Have a blessed Tuesday everyone. Approach God’s Word each time with reverence and with anticipation about what the Holy Spirit will reveal to you and how He will sharpen you through your time in His Word for His glory.
