Daily Word
Proverbs 3:31-32 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]
31 Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways.
32 Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly.
Proverbs 3:31-32 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]
31 Do not envy a man of violence And do not choose any of his ways.
32 For the devious are an abomination to the Lord; But He is intimate with the upright.
Pastor’s Thoughts
I can’t help but read this and think of Putin, Stalin, Hitler, Nero, and so many others.
Violent people often end up in leadership. That doesn’t mean that they are people to be admired or even feared.
When I see people that are admiring someone who is violent and wicked it’s because they perceive the power that those people have. And they want that power for themselves.
The Bible teaches us that man’s power pales in comparison to God’s.
Those violent people that I mentioned and the ones that you know… they have no true friends, they have no true self confidence, they are constantly thinking someone is out to overthrow them, and they have no joy.
People who seek to obey the Lord’s ways out of their love for Him… they have brothers and sisters in Christ, their confidence comes from the Lord, they see everyone as someone to love and serve, and they most certainly have joy.
So go ahead and follow your violent, wicked people. As for me, I will follow the Lord!
Have a blessed Friday everyone. Live a life of service rather than violence.
