Proverbs 1.3 (New Living Translation)

3 Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just, and fair.

Pastor’s Thoughts

One of the key things about wisdom is that it is not referring to knowledge alone. Wisdom is applying knowledge to one’s choices. In other words, wisdom is acting on the knowledge that you have.

Most people are not considered wise decision-makers not because they don’t know better, but because they do know better and choose to do the exact opposite of what they know is right.

One of the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5 is SELF-CONTROL. We are exercising self-control when we choose to go against what our flesh wants to do, what the world wants us to do, and what Satan wants us to do. And instead, we do what God’s Word (The Bible) says to do.

God wants us to live disciplined and successful lives. He wants us to live lives that are moral, not immoral.

The truth is almost every successful business practice comes from The Bible and many of them come specifically from the book of Proverbs.

Those who choose to cheat their way to success are always looking over their shoulder hoping that no one knows or finds out what they did.

So you can take the unstable shortcut by cheating or you can take the stable road by making decisions in life based on what God’s Word says. Odds are in your favor that you will find true success if you do. And when you find that true success you are to use it for God’s glory, not your own.
