Pastor’s Thoughts
You can’t consider yourself wise if you do not think you have more to learn. Wise people make a constant effort to be lifelong learners.
I have known many of people who have behaved as if they had nothing else to learn. That they had everything all figured out. That is not a wise person. I learn knew things about God and His Word regularly and I love it.
If we are going to strive to be wise and maintain being wise, then we must make a daily effort to search God’s Word. Searching God’s Word alone though does not leave someone to being wise. For someone to be considered wise in God’s eyes they must know God’s Word and apply His Word to how they choose to live their lives in the world.
Sometimes God’s Word is written in plain and simple terms where there is no question what it was saying and why it was saying it. Other times God’s Word is written in poetry or written in symbolism, and we must pray and meditate and study what those verses or passages are saying and see what God intends for us to learn from it. But remember not just learning but doing.
When you read the Bible are you looking to only learn so that you can be filled with more knowledge? Or are you going to God’s Word to learn and grow in knowledge so that you can apply what you learn to how you live your everyday life? This second option is how God desires us to approach His Word. This is what someone who is wise and that desires to stay wise does.
How are you approaching God’s Word?
Have a blessed Thursday everyone!
