Proverbs 3:1-2 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]
1 My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart.
2 If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying.
Proverbs 3:1-2 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]
1 My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments;
2 For length of days and years of life. And peace they will add to you.
Pastor’s Thoughts
As I mentioned in yesterdays Daily Word. God wants us to store His Word in our hearts. Yesterday, I shared how one does that. Today, I want to tell you the benefits of storing God’s Word in your hearts.
Now as always, verse 2 is a probability not a promise. Not all people who store God’s Word in their hearts live long lives.
What the verse is saying is that if you pattern your life after how God’s Word says to live then your probabilities increase in living a longer life than if you had lived against God’s Word. It also says peace will be added to you. This is not a temporary peace. No, this is a peace that comes from God alone.
Who would like to increase their probability of living longer and increase their probability of experiencing more peace while living on Earth? I know I would. The truth is the peace is guaranteed as long as you are walking in step with The Lord Jesus Christ. That peace will increase more and more based on the more you are willing to let go of all the idols (sins) of your life and replace them with God and His Word.
It benefits you to store God’s Word in your heart. It benefits your church also. It benefits your family or future family. It benefits the world.
So what are you going to do?
Have a blessed Saturday everyone. If you haven’t already, calendar an unbreakable appointment everyday to store God’s Word in your heart. And then encourage others to do the same.
