Proverbs 2:1-5 (New Living Translation) [A thought for thought translation]

1 My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands.

2 Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.

3 Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.

4 Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.

5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:1-5 (New American Standard Bible) [A word for word translation]

1 My son, if you will receive my words And treasure my commandments within you,

2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding;

3 For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding;

4 If you seek her as silver And search for her as for hidden treasures;

5 Then you will discern the fear of the Lord And discover the knowledge of God.

Pastor’s Thoughts

The simple truth is that the people who genuinely want God’s wisdom will receive it. And those who do not want it will be without it.

Wisdom calls out to us yes, but to receive it we need to value it.

If I told each of you that I buried a million dollars somewhere on the property of my house and that one of you could have it if you could find it that I would find a whole bunch of you digging wholes all in my yard. Why is that? Because you want the million dollars.

Do you realize that true wisdom come from God and His Word only? That means if you want true wisdom then you need to go digging for it. Be all up in God’s Word and letting God’s Word get all up in you.

Seeking wisdom from God is like going treasure hunting. That is when you are doing correctly.

So how does one get more wisdom from God?

  1. Go to God’s Word and read it.
  2. Pray and Study to understand it better.
  3. Then Obey it.

My question for you today is how much do you really value God’s Word? Do you treasure it or not?

Have a blessed Tuesday everyone. I pray you will choose to make time to be in God’s Word and pray today!
